Hi Parents!
Homework folders went home on Friday. Inside you will find a letter explaining how homework works in our classroom along with the reasoning behind a more “play-based” homework style. The folders with completed assignments will come back to school on Monday, October 2nd which is the Monday after our fall break. I will send a reminder closer to this date. If you need more paper throughout the month, let me know and I can send more home. You may also use a different type of paper that you have at home.
This week we will have be completing the CogAT test on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We will begin promptly at 8:00 am, so it is important to have your child at school on time, well rested, and with a belly full of nutritious breakfast.
Due to Labor Day, we did not have our regular ILC lesson. We will go next week on Tuesday, September 12th. I will send a reminder for books to come back next Monday.
Here is what we have going on this week:
Monday: No School – Labor Day
Wednesday: Talent Development with Mrs. Walker
Wednesday – Friday: CogAT Testing
Here is what we are learning this week:
Math: We will begin our unit on using various strategies to solve addition equations to 10.
Phonics: Digraphs (wh and th) ex: white, whistle, this, that
Writing: We will continue our Narrative Writing/Small Moment writing for Quarter 1.
Reading: Daily 5 Rotations
**Due to no school on Monday and testing, our segments are shorter this week. We will be reviewing landforms and begin working on an upcoming STEM project, but we will not be learning a new social studies or science topic due to time constraints.
Thanks!
Ms. Coyne
