Hi Parents!
Remember that on Wednesday of this week we will have early release. Dismissal will begin at 12:15 pm. ASP will be open for regular hours which is until 6 pm.
Homework folders will go home this Friday, September 1st. I decided to switch the choice board up just a little. There will be 16 choices each month and each child must complete a minimum of 6 activities to complete and turn in. If you would like to have your child complete all 16 activities for the month that is fine. I would only like for 6 activities to be turned in at the end of the month though. Many of the activities are play-based and should be fun and interactive. Please also remember to have your child read every night for 15-20 minutes!
We will be working on a STEM challenge that focuses on Landforms. If you have any empty, washed pudding cups or apple sauce cups, please feel free to donate them to our class for the project. You can send them in anytime next week. We will be working on this STEM challenge for the next couple of weeks.
Here is what we have going on this week:
Monday: Guidance with Mrs. Grindstaff
Wednesday: Talent Development and Early Release at 12:15
Here is what we are learning this week:
Math: We will continue to work on place value with numbers 11-19.
Phonics: Digraphs (ch and sh) ex: chip, inch, ship, cash
Social Studies: We will continue our unit on Continents, Oceans, and Landforms. This week we will focus on Landforms.
Writing: We will continue our Narrative Writing/Small Moment writing for Quarter 1.
Reading: We are ready to begin our Daily 5 Rotations.
*This means that your child will begin bringing home their yellow reading folders with their guided reading book. Please remember to have your child read this book at home and return the folder with their book back to school on the date that is written on the sticky note inside the folder.
Happy Birthday, Micah on Wednesday, August 30th!!!!
Thanks!
Ms. Coyne
