Hi Parents!
Tomorrow is the Great American Eclipse! We will be doing eclipse related activities throughout the day. When it is time for the eclipse to occur, which will be around 2:30, we will live stream the eclipse as well as be able to see how it becomes dark with our classroom windows.
If you are checking your child out early, my plan is to have everyone who is leaving early to pack up around 11:00 am. That way, when they are called down to the office, they can just grab their backpack and head on out. Please be aware that our lunch time is 11:44 am to 12:14 pm. This might be the only time where check out could be difficult.
I received a few emails last week regarding family journals. They come home every Friday and inside you should find a letter from your child that tells about their week at school. Read the letter and write back to them. In the past, parents have written about something they did over the weekend, how proud they are of their child, or responded to their child’s letter. As the year goes on, the letters will become longer and it will be easier to write back. :)
Here is what we have going on this week:
Monday: ILC lesson and check-out. Send in library books tomorrow!
Wednesday: Picture Day and Talent Development with Mrs. Walker
Friday: College Day – wear your favorite college shirt!
Here is what we are learning this week:
Math: We will wrap up counting to 120 and move into place value with numbers 11-19.
Phonics: CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words. Ex: cat, mat, bed, red
Social Studies: We will continue our unit on Continents, Oceans, and Landforms. This week we will focus on the continents, oceans, and move into landforms around Wednesday.
Writing: We will continue our Narrative Writing/Small Moment writing for Quarter 1.
Reading: We are continuing to develop our Daily 5 rotations and routines. This week the students will be choosing between reading to self, reading with someone, working on writing, and working on words.
Thanks!
Ms. Coyne
