Hey Parents!
Next week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (September 4 -6) we will have our CogAT test. This test is teacher paced, read aloud, and provides information on how your child learns best. The test is given over three days and usually lasts about and hour to an hour and a half each morning. Please be sure your child gets a good night sleep and a healthy breakfast so they can be ready to go!
This Wednesday is our first early release day. Dismissal will begin at 12:20 pm. Mrs. Davis and I will be in a training, so please make sure to send any dismissal changes in your child’s folder Wednesday morning so the substitutes can note their change.

Here is what we are learning this week:
Reading: We will continue to listen to stories read aloud and discuss story elements (plot, setting, characters, problem, and solution).
Writing: We will wrap up our Handwriting unit and continue our Narrative Writing unit.
Math: We are moving on from Number Sense to Place Value. We will focus on the teen numbers 11 – 19 this quarter. Students will use base ten blocks, ten frames, and other tools to present these numbers.
Social Studies: We will wrap up our Global Address Unit where students will learn their street address, city, county, country, and continent.
STEAM: We will kick off STEAM with understanding each letter in STEAM and practice communicating and collaborating.
