Hey Parents!
I can hardly believe we are just two weeks away from the halfway mark of our school year. This year has flown by so far. We are busy wrapping up our quarter 2 standards to prepare for quarter 3 when we get back in January.
Please be sure to return the yellow Inclement Weather forms that went home last Thursday. We do have some rain coming this week and low temps and we want to be prepared if school is dismissed early.
Here is what have going on this week:
Tuesday: Substitutes: Mrs. Paine and Mrs. Davis at training
Friday: LLC check out and Guidance with Mrs. Edwards
Here is what we are learning this week:
Reading: We will work on identifying the author’s purpose for writing a text (entertain, persuade, or inform).
Writing: Informational Writing Unit. This week we begin working a specific type of informational writing: How To. We will write a how to writing on how to make a PB&J sandwich.
Math: We will work on the meaning of the equal sign. Students will solve addition or subtraction equations on both side of the equal sign to determine if the equation is true or false. Example: 6+4 = 5 + 5 is true because both sides equal 10. 6+4 = 5 +6 is false.
Social Studies: We will continue learning about our second American Hero, Thomas Jefferson.
STEAM: We will monitor our carrot seeds both outside and inside. We started to see some TINY sprouts in our outside beds last week, so we are excited to see what continues to happen.
