Hi Parents!
This week we will have rotations on Monday and Tuesday. Each first grade teacher will teach a different continent to each class. The app I put on the homework calendar is a great resource to use to help your child with identifying the continents and oceans.
Here is what we have going on this week:
Monday: Continents, Oceans, and Landforms Rotations
Tuesday: Continents, Oceans, and Landforms Rotations
Wednesday: Target Day
Thursday: STEAM Day
Friday: ILC Check Out
Here is what we are learning this week:
Math: Wrap up unit on comparing numbers (greater than, less than, and equal) and begin using pennies and dimes represent numbers that are one more, one less, ten more, and ten less.
Social Studies: Unit on Continents, Oceans, and Landforms.
STEAM: Continent Charades. On Thursday, students will work in groups to come up with way to act out a continent. They will use what we learned about each continents landforms, location, climate, animals, and plants to give their classmates clues.
Writing: Opinion Writing. This week we will write an opinion writing on our favorite pet.
Reading: Daily 5 Rotations and determining the Central Message in a fiction story.
Phonics: Vowel Teams. This week we will continue with Magic E which goes at the end of words and makes the vowel long (say its name).
Thanks,
Mrs. Paine
