Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break with family and friends! I had a great time spending the holidays with my family at Isle of Palms! I am excited to see the kids tomorrow and hear all about their winter breaks!
As stated in my email, I have decided to switch up our homework routine. Your child’s red homework folder will come home tomorrow afternoon in their backpack. Inside you will find a choice board for the month of January. There are 12 activities your child can choose to complete for this month. I am requiring that each student turn in 5 assignments at the end of the month in their homework folder with the boxes marked off that they completed. If you would like to have your child complete all 12 for the month that is totally fine! But, I am asking that you only have your child submit 5 of those assignments in their homework folder at the end of the month. Please refer to the blog each week if you are having trouble figuring out what we are working on in class. Some of the boxes include topics we will cover later in the month, so if your child wants to complete those, they might need to wait until we begin learning about that topic.
Report cards will go home this Friday, January 6th. Please keep the report card, sign the front of the envelope on the quarter 2 line and return it back to school UNSEALED. We will need to use the envelope again for quarters 3 and 4.
Here is what we are learning this (short) week:
Math: Introduce Greater than, less than with two-digit numbers
Phonics: Begin final –e words (ex: kite, time, plane, etc.)
Social Studies: Global Address (continent, country, state, county, and city)
Writing: Discuss New Years Resolutions/Goals. We will write resolutions for 2017.
Reading: Daily 5 Rotations.
Thanks!
Ms. Coyne
