Hey Parents!
On Wednesday, we will have an in-house field trip where first grade will watch a play called, Give Peas a Chance. This play teaches kids to build a healthy plate that balances the food groups.
SAVE THE DATE!! First grade is heading to the Zoo on Wednesday, April 1st. Anyone is welcome to chaperone we just ask that you meet us at the zoo at the assigned time and no siblings, please.
Here is what have going on this week:
Wednesday: Give Peas a Chance
Thursday: Target Day
Friday: LLC Check Out
Here is what we are learning this week:
Reading: This week, we will begin working on identifying the point of view of a book read aloud (first person, second person, third person).
Writing: We will write an opinion writing on what would be the best pet to have.
Math: We will begin our unit on adding within 100 using a two-digit number and a multiple of 10. Ex: 54 + 10 =. We will use a variety of strategies: mental math, tens and ones, and 100 charts.
Social Studies: We will begin learning about our next American Hero, Theodore Roosevelt.
STEAM: We will check in on our indoor carrot seeds growth! We will monitor their progress and water as needed. Our hope is to transplant outside in couple of weeks!
Thank you!
Mrs. Paine
