Hi Parents!
I hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing fall break! I spent the first half of the week working on wedding plans and then went to up to Cleveland, Ohio to visit my parents and attend my cousin’s wedding! I had a great time but I am excited to get back to work and to see all of your sweet kiddos!
Homework folders are due tomorrow, October 2nd. The new homework choice boards for October will most likely come home on Wednesday, October 4th. This will give me time to check the work in the folders and get them re-stuffed for this month’s homework.
On Tuesday, I am leaving at 11 am to attend a conference. There will be a substitute for the second half of the day and I will be back on Wednesday.
I have had a few questions about t-shirt orders for the green Kind is the New Cool shirts. Don’t worry, I have not received any of the shirts yet. I am thinking they are a little delayed. I am going to check into that this week and email an update.
Here is what we have going on this week:
Monday: Guidance with Mrs. Grindstaff
Wednesday: Talent Development w/Mrs. Walker and October Homework Folders go home
Here is what we are learning this week:
Math: We will continue our unit on using various strategies to solve addition equations to 10. This week we will focus on counting on and doubles.
Phonics: Review our phonics concepts so far. We will work on ch, sh, ck, th, wh, -am, and –an.
Science: We will begin our unit on Weather.
Writing: We will continue our Narrative Writing/Small Moment writing for Quarter 1. This week we will focus on a specific topic: Ouch Stories. (This is a favored topic in first grade as they all love sharing about a time they got hurt)
Reading: Daily 5 Rotations
Thanks!
Ms. Coyne
